I have to disagree with the comment by Lori. The food is not overpriced at all. You get a big plateful for your money, very reasonable. Nowadays it's hard to find somewhere that does lovely big salads which they do, most places you just get a lettuce leaf! I love the pub, lovely food, lovely setting, friendly staff and very quick service. I would definately recommend it!

Expensive food for whet you get. Starter was so small it was barely there!
Main meal was not very nice and when I commented on that to staff member sh was clearly not bothered!

Stopped for lunch here Fri July 18 2008. One of the first in at lunchtime opening and the place was packed and the carpark full when we left at mid afternoon which says a lot for it's popularity. The meal was of a high standard I would say for a sit down meal in a pub - I had cod and chips which tasted very fresh and was quite large. The staff were friendly and prompt. We would definitely stop here again for lunch.

The Red Lion is a lovely pub, generous portions of food at competitive prices a really great place to eat. There are a handful of vegetarian dishes on the menu. However consider booking, even in the week as it is usually quite busy.
